bass trombone with wind band
The biggest problem of any bibliography is that it's out of date as soon as you finish it. - Unnamed Doctoral Committee Member
This website is to serve as an easily accessible and updatable counterpart to my doctoral treatise, An Annotated Bibliography of Works for Solo Bass Trombone and Wind Band. For those wishing for a full-page entry on each work, please refer to a published copy, obtainable in the ProQuest online database of theses and dissertations.
Since the completion of my treatise I've received numerous requests for repertoire suggestions based on my research. A few pages on my personal website seemed the easiest place for a comprehensive yet concise list. As with all things, there will likely be some errors: new works composed and published, older pieces falling out of print, and works that currently exist but were apologetically overlooked by myself and others. If you believe an error or update is needed to this page, please feel free to contact me.
My original document was limited to original works for a single bass trombone and wind band. Arrangements were only included if they were both published and arranged from an original work for bass trombone and another medium (i.e. bass trombone and piano). It is my hope to eventually expand this website to include more arrangements as well as works for more than one solo trombonist.
In line with my treatise, works are sorted into three categories (2 and 3 linked below):
Solo Bass Trombone and Wind Band
Solo Bass Trombone and Small Wind Ensemble (8-20 accompanimental players)
Self-Published, Unpublished, or Out-of-Print Works
solo bass trombone and wind band
[a-m] [n-z]
small Wind Ensemble
self/Unpublished/Out-of-Print
bass +1 (or more) solo instruments
Self-published works, which are easily available for purchase on a website are listed in this "published" section. Self-published works that require contacting the composer to obtain materials are listed on the "Self/Unpublished" page.
